Create Your Own Game Cover (One that Exists or Create a Whole new Game) Follow the Instructions!

Video Game Box Art Project

The project will have the student create custom box art for a video game. The goal of the project is to reinforce their Photoshop skills as well as learn implementing external branding into their Photoshop projects. It requires the student have a firm understanding of how to use layers, fonts, and spacing effectively to create an appealing creative piece.
The project should be designed for print instead of web and follow the guidelines below:
  1. Use CMYK color
  2. Be the exact size of the game box used (i.e. Xbox 360 games are 7.5 inches tall and 5.375 inches wide; PC games are 7.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide)
  3. Include front and back covers
  4. Include box art template elements for Xbox 360 or PC or PS3
  5. Include ESRB game rating
  6. Include logotype for video game
  7. Include logos of Publisher, Game Engines, and any Game Studios/Developers involved in the game’s creation
  8. Include brief synopsis and description of game features on the back
  9. Include at least three in game screenshots on the back cover
  10. Each logo, text box, picture/screenshot, and or element should be a separate layer
  11. Layers should be organized into folders where possible
  12. Project must be submitted in original PSD file.
The project will be graded for:
  1. Completion (30%)
  2. Design (50%)
  3. Attention to Detail (20%)
