Holiday Card Contest

What
Chicago International Charter School is holding an art contest to find great student work for our 2012 holiday card. The winning piece will be reproduced as a greeting card and mailed to donors and friends of CICS to thank them for their support and wish them a happy new year.

Why
Our goal in featuring student work is to reflect our “children first” values and give everyone in the CICS community connect with our students more directly.

Who
All campuses and all grades are invited to participate.

How
Any two-dimensional medium is welcome.

There is no required theme, but it is for a holiday thank you card. The selection criteria will be based on how effectively artwork conveys the ideas of holiday spirit, winter, thankfulness and hope for the upcoming year.

The selection committee will consist of 3-5 members of the network office team, a CICS board member and a volunteer with an arts background.

When
Deadline TBD based on feedback from campus directors and art teachers

Contact Maggie Morrison, CICS Chief Development Officer, with questions or to arrange for pick up/drop off of artwork – mmorrison@chicagointl.org or 312-651-5021. All submissions should be clearly labeled with the artist’s name, grade, school and art teacher’s name.

And the best part… PRIZES!
The student artist whose work is selected for the card will be awarded a $50 Target gift card plus $100 in art supplies for their school. One student in each of three grade categories – elementary (K-4), middle school (5-8) and high school (9-12) – will also be recognized with an honorable mention and a $25 Target gift card. Awards will be presented at an appropriate school event to celebrate this accomplishment.
